Title |
Medieval: Lyre-shaped Buckle |
||
Description |
English: Two joining fragments forming most of a cast copper alloy buckle of 'lyre-shaped' form. These distinctive buckles are of 15th century date.The attachment end is formed by a hollow box with two iron rivets for securing the strap. The box is decorated with a single gothic letter, possibly a 'u'. Only a fragment of the frame survives. There are traces of a white metal surface coating. |
