Title
Medieval: Ring
Description
English: Cast copper alloy ring of probable Roman - Modern date (50 - 1800). The ring is broadly circular in plan (with faceted edges) and is rectangular in cross section. There is no obvious cast or incised decoration present. The external surface is slight grey in places and this may suggest that it is tinned. The ring is an abraded green colour with a relatively well preserved patina that covers all surfaces. The patination of the metal would suggest a medieval or earlier date. The function of the ring is varied; it is worn, a direct use cannot be attributed. It is possible that this ring has been burned or exposed to very corrosive soil / burial conitions

The ring measures 26.0mm in diameter, the frame is 4.1mm wide, and is 3.3mm thick. The internal diameter is 18.3mm. The ring weighs 2.91 grams.

Date between 50 and 1800
