Title
Medieval Badge (front)
Description
English: A cast lead alloy pilgrims badge of Richard Caister, Norwich, dating to the medieval period, 14th century. The figure is of Caister facing forward, preaching from a polygonal pulpit, with his left arm raised. The holy dove is left of Caister’s head. Caister is surrounded by a rough rectangle which has scroll inscribed with ‘soli deo honor et gloria’ around the edge. At the top left-hand corner of the rectangle is a hand, which could represent the hand of God. The pin of the badge survives intact.
