Title
Medieval Spur Buckle
Description
English: A fragment of a copper alloy medieval (AD c.1250-1400) single loop spur buckle with an integral plate, missing its frame, pin and parts of the plate. Overall, it measures 15.0mm long, 10.4mm wide and 3.5mm thick. It weighs 0.83g.

The buckle plate is broadly rectangular in plan, expanding slightly in width at the broken end (the loop end). There are two circular perforations. One, at the centre, contains a copper alloy rivet, while the other is missing one side as a result of the break. This second hole may have been for a second rivet or for attaching the buckle pin. Decorations consists of transverse grooves at the unbroken end. The whole of the front surface of the plate has been guilded. The reverse is undecorated.
