Title
Medieval candlestick
Description
English: An incomplete, cast, copper-alloy candle holder or candlestick, of late medieval to early post-medieval date, c. 1400-1550.

The candlestick consists of a large socket and an integral projecting shank on its base that would have fitted into a socket of branching arm or base to hold the candlestick. The socket is cylindrical with a shallow conical base, and the whole object is cast solid. There is a moulded collar around the rim and halfway up the height of the socket, with an incised line around the base where it joins the shank.
