Description |
English: Gilt and enamelled buckle plate; rectangular piece of metal folded over, fold acts as casing for frame (now lost); the plate was secured via three copper alloy rivets; two at the outer corners and a third placed in an irregular position is most likely a repair rivet; the front is decorated with a crudely executed profiled beast against of ground of inlaid blue champleve enamel, there are traces of green? Enamel on the body of the beast indicating that this may have originally been inlaid as well, behind the fold is a strip of gilding; the back is plain though bent and damaged. |
