Description |
English: A complete medieval harness suspension mount showing signs of silver metal gilding (c. AD 1250-1400). It is cross-shaped in plan and is hinged on one arm of the cross. The arms of the cross are roughly equal in length and are bevelled and terminate with a rounded knop, 3 of which have attachment holes, allowing it to be secured to the harness strap. The centre area is adorned on three of the arms of with cross with a cross pattee design the fourth being the hinged suspension hanger. The reverse is flat and has a green patina, and is undecorated. Measuring 36mm x 35.90mm and is 3.5-4.0mm in thickness. The pendant suspended from the hinge is missing. |
