Title
Medieval lace chape
Description
English: Rolled copper alloy sheet lace chape. The chape is a hollow cone made by rolling a triangular piece of sheet and overlapping the edges. Egan and Pritchard (1991) page 281-290 suggest lace chapes are in use from the mid 14th century and continue in use into the post medieval period. The chape is 46.4mm long, 7.6mm wide by 5.2mm thick at the top and weighs 3.4 grams.
