Title
Medieval mount: Belt mount
Description
English: A copper alloy belt or strap mount dating to the Medieval period (c. AD 1270-1400). The mount is sub-globular with two lobes protruding from either side; the top of the mount is decorated with four lines and columns of crude and uneven incised hatching. The two projections each have a rivet hole drilled through them, and one copper alloy rivet is retained. Similar examples are recorded from London and date from the late 13th to 15th century AD (Egan 1998).
