Title
Medieval or post-medieval silver annular brooch
Description
English: Description: Late medieval to post medieval silver annular brooch. Originally oval frame, now distorted out of shape. The frame is composed of sheet silver, domed, the upper and lower edges forming a ridged border. A semi-circular aperture punched through the frame houses the loop of the D-sectioned pin. There is no marker’s mark visible.

Dimensions: Extant length 30.1mm, extant width 15.8mm, width of frame 5.8mm, thickness 1.1mm, weight 2.0g.

Discussion: A number of similar brooches have been submitted for consideration as potential Treasure and have been recorded on the PAS database, including: CAM-9C0FC6 (2017 T705), DOR-B69929 (2015 T310), CORN-FA0C1A (2018 T56) & BH-0FE909 (2015 T325). Makers' marks on some (e.g. BERK-E97475) suggest a post-medieval date for at least some.

Date: c. AD 1400 – 1700.
