Title
Medieval seal matrix (reversed for readability)
Description
English: Complete Medieval lead alloy personal seal matrix. The seal is thick and flat. The reverse holds the remains of a broken lug on a short rib.

On the obverse there is a central design of a stylised wheel, flower or star with eight radiating lines. This is separated from the surrounding legend by an incomplete circle. The inscription reads + S' NOS : SAVCER. The matrix is damaged on its upper edge which obscures the forename; the N may alternatively be two letters. The forename is hard to decipher but the surname appears in Reaney and Wilson under the entry for Sauser, a maker of sauces, from the Old French saucier.

The seal matrix measures 27.21mm in diameter and is 6.88mm thick. It weighs 26.88g.
