Title
Medieval silver coin hoard
Description
English: A medieval silver cut halfpenny folded over a silver cut farthing. Only the obverse of the folded cut halfpenny is visible. The obverse is worn.

Obv. description: Crowned bust facing, sceptre in right hand Obv. inscription: HENRIC[VS RE]X

The inscription indicates the larger coin is a cut halfpenny of the Short Cross coinage issued under Henry II, Richard, John and Henry III. The obverse is too worn to determine which ruler it is. As silver coins of the medieval kings of England, these two coins will be of over 90% fine metal.

The pair of interlinked coins fulfil the Treasure Act (1996) in that there are two or more coins of good silver from the same find spot and certainly deposited together, and that they are more than 300 years old. It is my opinion that they fulfil the criteria of Treasure according to the terms of the Act.
