Title
Medieval single loop buckle
Description
English: A medieval cast copper-alloy single-looped 'D' shaped buckle with a narrowed and offset set pin bar, with pin in situ. The frame is plain, with the bevelled upper surface. The ends of the pin bar are squared off, and the pin is formed from a similar piece of copper alloy, a thick bent sheet. These plain buckles are of a general medieval date; Whitehead (1996, 18-19) suggests they mainly date from 1250-1500 AD.
