Medieval to post-medieval double oval buckle (incomplete) |
||
Description |
English: An incomplete copper-alloy double-oval buckle of probable late medieval to post-medieval date.
The intact side of the frame is D-shaped and has edges which slope downwards and outwards slightly. The buckle is heavily encrusted but there appears to be moulded decoration on the outer edge. The axis bar is of sub-circular section and the pin is missing. Only a small portion of the other half of the frame remains. The buckle measures 29mm high, 24.4mm wide and 3.3mm thick. The weight is 4.48g. |
