Title
Medieval tweezers
Description
English: A complete pair of copper-alloy tweezers probably dating from the medieval period. They are the type with rectangular terminals and are believed to have been used as a page holder. The rectangular terminals are decorated with a sequenced of dotted patterns; an outer and inner border, and a voided diagonal cross on each terminal. The arms taper and join with a loop. There is a slide in place connecting the arms, made from a bent strip of copper alloy. The tweezers are patinated with a light green, brown colour. They measure 44.11mm x 19.94mm x 5mm, weighing 4.32g.

A similar page holder was found in a 13th-century context at Winchester (Biddle 1990, 756, no. 2326A).
