Title |
Medieval white metal-coated buckle |
||
Description |
English: Incomplete medieval white-metal coated buckle with a waist between the lyre-shaped frame and the integral, trapezoidal socketed plate. Almost all of the frame is missing, broken across the pin hole. The front of the plate is decorated with six longitudinally engraved grooves. Two iron rivets (largely absent) would have retained the strap. Length >30mm. Width at mouth of socket 16mm (14.5 x 5mm internally). Cf Fingerlin 1971, Abb. 286-7, 289 and 291. End 14th – first quarter 15th century. |
