Description

Aunque la Comunidad de Madrid es pequeñita, es preciosa

Por unos peldaños que hay se desciende con precaución y un poco más adelante aparece la poza y la cascada conocida como “el Hervidero”, que aunque ya no forma el torbellino que formaba antes de represarse el río, aún, en épocas de lluvia o cuando se abren las compuertas de los embalses se puede apreciar este conjunto natural. Pertenciendo el salto de la derecha a Pedrezuela y el de la izquierda y el charco a San Agustín.


“Son notables el salto y charco del Hervidero, que forman sus aguas (las del río Guadalix) unos cuatro kilómetros más arriba de San Agustín, el primero de seis metros de altura sobre el agua, y el segundo de bastante profundidad, en el cual se cría mucha pesca”, describía Casiano del Prado en 1864, año en que vio la luz la 'Descripción física y geológica de la provincia de Madrid’
