Description
English:

Metal sewing needle.

Metal needles like this one became available to American Indians through the fur trade. Why would they want metal needles instead of the ones they traditionally used? One reason might be that fur traders imported European and other fabrics that were softer and easier to work with than animal hides. Based on fur trade inventories, it’s estimated that fabrics accounted for as much as sixty percent of the trade.
