Microblade : Mesolithic |
||
Description |
English: Five complete flint microlith bladelets of late Mesolithic date (6300-4300 BC). 1. The lithic is sub-rectangular in profiles and sub-triangular in section. The proximal edge is composed of retained cortex and the distal end has been abruptly blunted while the dorsal surface is composed of one predominant arrise running longitudinally down the mesial portion. Both the left and right hand sides have been retouched. The ventral surface is concave with only one flake removed on the left hand edge. 2. The lithic has a linear profile and has been abruptly blunted at both its proximal an distal ends. The dorsal surface contains three negative scars with corresponding arrises, and there is fine retouch to the left and right hand edges. The ventral surface is smooth and flat. 3. The lithic is sub-rectangular in profile and both the proximal and distal ends have been abruptly blunted. The dorsal surface contains three negative scars with corresponding arrises and both the left and right hand edges have been retouched. The ventral surface is smooth and flat. 4. The lithic is sub-triangular in profile and has been abruptly blunted at the proximal end, the distal end tapers to a point. The dorsal surface contains two negative scars with corresponding arrises, there is retouch to the left hand side edge, the right had side edge retains cortex. The ventral surface is smooth and slightly concave. 5. The lithic is sub-triangular in profile, the proximal end has been abruptly blunted and retains some cortex towards the right hand edge, while the distal end tapers to a central point. The dorsal surface contains one negative scar with corresponding arrises and there is fine retouch to the left and right hand edges. The ventral surface is smooth and slightly concave. Range of Lengths: 22.84-11.13mm Bond, Pg 104, Fig, 5.88. |
