The Mir mine in Siberia is an open pit diamond mine, more than 525 m deep and 1200 m in diameter, making it one of the largest in the world. The diamond-bearing kimberlite pipe was discovered in 1955.

Description
English: The Mir mine in Siberia is an open pit diamond mine, more than 525 m deep and 1200 m in diameter, making it one of the largest in the world. The diamond-bearing kimberlite pipe was discovered in 1955. With both pit mining and later underground mining, the Mir has produced over 200 million carats of diamonds, the largest weighing 342 carats. The image was acquired July 16, 2019, covers an area of 17 by 17.7 km, and is located at 62.5 degrees north, 114 degrees east.
