Description

c/n 1158. Imperial Japanese Navy serial 3014. This is the sole surviving example of this important type. 671 were built between 1942 and 1945. Designed for local defense, they had some success against daylight raids by B-29 Superfortress. Captured at Atsugi airfield near Tokyo, Japan, in 1945, it was transported back to the US for testing. In 1958, after time at a technical college, became part of the Ed Maloney collection and, since restored, it remains on display in the ‘Foreign’ hangar at the Planes of Fame Museum, Chino, California, USA.
