Title |
Modern Serpent Bracelet |
||
Description |
English: White Metal Bangle. A complete bangle in the form of a serpent body with an oval concavo-convex snake head at either end of the band. The upper body is marked by paired rows of probably machine stamped pits, and the belly by a fine scale pattern. The heads are decorated with incised curved lines delineating eye sockets and rhomboid and pelta shaped zones on the top of the head. The eye sockets are of 2mm diameter and now empty but perhaps formerly retained paste stones. A pair of low knops on the otherwise featureless and hollow undersides of the heads. The material is a lightweight, perhaps aluminium, alloy; surface detail is probably machined, but the form of the piece is inspired by a Roman snake ring or bangle. Now folded into unequal lengths. Suggested date: Modern, 1950-2000.
Length (as found): 74mm, Width (head): 7.3mm, Thickness (body): 3.1mm, Weight: 5.00gms. |
