Description

A 21 de Agosto de 1908, no local onde se travou a batalha entre o exército Napoleónico, comandado pelo General Junot, o qual sofreu uma pesada derrota, e o exército anglo-luso, comandado pelo General Wellesley, foi inaugurado no dia em que se comemorava o primeiro centenário do evento, na presença de D. Manuel II, um monumento, com cerca de 4,5m de altura, simbolizando o agradecimento dos valorosos serviços prestados pelas tropas Inglesas na referida batalha.

Neste Padrão Comemorativo da Batalha do Vimeiro encontramos como ornato as datas, as armas nacionais e em grande relevo uma cabeça de leão que simboliza a força e a coragem.
