Summary[edit]

Description The Morse Building, also known as the Nassau-Beekman Building, at 138-42 Nassau Street on the corner of Beekman Street in the Financial District of Manhattan, New York City, was built in 1878-80 for two nephews of Samuel F.B. Morse, and was designed by Silliman & Farnsworth in a combination of Victorian Gothic, Rundbogenstil and neo-Grec styles, visible on the middle floors. It was significantly remodeled in 1901-02 by architects Bannister & Schell in the neo-Classical style, which can be seen on the upper floors. The building, which was one of the first tall fireproof buildings in New York City, became apartments in 1980 and was designated a NYC landmark in 2006. (Source: Guide to NYC Landmarks (4th ed.))
