Summary[edit]

Description
English: The mud comes from the mangrove of Praia do Jabaquara and revelers say it serves to scare away evil spirits and attract happiness The main attraction in Paraty, on the Costa Verde in Rio de Janeiro, is the traditional Bloco da Lama, which for 30 years invites revelers to get their bodies dirty with the mud from the mangroves on Praia do Jabaquara. Bloco da Lama has attracted attention with its originality and bizarreness. Created on a Carnival Saturday by some friends who bathed in the medicinal mud at Praia do Jabaquara, it draws more and more revelers with each revelry. Unrecognizable, playing incognito during carnival, the mud gang guarantees that the function of its members is to scare away evil spirits and attract happiness to Paraty's carnival.
