Español: Tronco de conífera petrificado (Gimnosperma). Un fragmento de vegetal inmerso en un líquido rico en soluciones minerales es reemplazado por sílice (calcedonia y/u ópalo) o calcita. Este reemplazo de la materia orgánica por mineral, ya sea en el tejido o masivamente en las cavidades, no produce cambios en la forma ni en la estructura original, conservado así una réplica exacta del vegetal. Provincia de Chubut. Antigüedad entre 50 y 60 millones de años.
