Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Planing machine, made by Myrens Verksted, Kristiania (Oslo), 1899. The machine plane all four sides in one passing, and were among the most advanced in its time. It has one undercutter, one overcutter, two sidecutters and one staff cutter. At that time ball bearings did not have the same precision as today, and the speed of the cutters was not high enough to give a perfect surface. The machine is therefore equipped with a planbox with three fixed planning steels, each cutting very thinly. The result is a fine and even surface which not even the most advanced rotaplan can improve on. Exhibited at Norwegian Technology Museum, Oslo.
