English: New design of original logo from 1905 by unknown artist, a line drawing. It was redesigned in the heraldic flat style in 1990 to be graphically more versatile. It is adapted from the Norwegian coat of arm as depicted on Daler coins in the 17th century. Chosen by the Norsk Folkemuseum to symbolize its nationwide field of work and because the coat of arms was a widely used motif in folk art.
Norsk bokmål: Ny versjon av museets første logo fra 1905, en linjetegning av ukjent kunstner. Den ble omarbeidet til heraldisk linjestil i 1990 for å bli mer anvendelig grafisk. Tegningen er basert på riksvåpenet slik det ble preget på norske dalermynter på 1600-tallet. Motivet ble valgt av museet for å symbolisere dets landsomfattende virke og fordi Den norske løve var et ofte brukt motiv i folkekunsten. |
