Description
English: The NSG Rhine Foreland between Mehrum and Emmelsum (WES 055) covers the areas of the dike foreland in the Mehrumer Rheinbogen, which are located directly on the banks of the Rhine. Some of these are recultivated gravel-sand excavation areas, which are mainly used again as grassland. The former gravel ponds are filled with the exception of three altarm-like residual waters. At the N-Rand there is a 300 m long flood channel with connection to the Rhine only in case of flooding.
Deutsch: Das NSG Rheinvorland zwischen Mehrum und Emmelsum (WES 055) umfasst die unmittelbar am Rheinufer gelegenen Flächen des Deichvorlandes im Mehrumer Rheinbogen. Dabei handelt es sich zum Teil um rekultivierte Kies-Sand-Abgrabungsbereiche, die ueberwiegend wieder als Grünland genutzt werden. Die ehemaligen Kiesweiher sind mit Ausnahme dreier altarmähnlicher Restgewässer verfüllt. Am N-Rand befindet sich eine 300 m lange Flutrinne mit Anbindung an den Rhein nur noch bei Hochwasser. Es gehört zum Feuchtgebiet internationaler Bedeutung Unterer Niederrhein gemaess RAMSAR-Konvention. Folgende Biotoptypen kommen vor: - naturnahe, unverbaute Fliessgewaesserabschnitte (FO2) - Nass- und Feuchtgrünland (EE3) - Magergrünland (ED0) - Auenwald (BE2).
