ADDITIONAL info: See comment field ADDITIONAL info remark: Corvus corax L. afkomstig van de P.P. Benedictijnen destijds te Merkelbeek, daarna te Mamelis, Vaals. Zij hielden 2 levende raven (vermoedelijk uit Duitsland afkomstig). Deze vogels ontsnapten, werden geschoten en kwamen dood weer in handen v/d. paters. Een hunner, Pater Augustinus, zette ze op.De vogels zijn later met een hele coll. opgezette vogels verkocht. De raven werden gekocht door de preparateur Hoenen te Hoensbroek. Ik kreeg dit ex. van hem op 21 December 1943. Eens zouden deze raven uit Mamelis afkomstig zijn; daarna uit Zeeland!! volgens Hoenen. Ik houd het er voor, dat deze duitse Benedictijnen de raven als jonge vogels uit Duitsland hebben betrokken.Zie mijn dagboek No 19 pp 98-99 P.H.
