Title
Neolithic arrowhead: Leaf-shaped arrowhead
Description
English: A flint leaf-shaped arrowhead dating to the early Neolithic period. The arrowhead is formed from a piece of mottled blue/ grey flint which has a heavily calcified outer surface, suggesting a chalk downland source. The arrowhead has been extensively retouched on both ventral and dorsal face, with some post-depositional damage evident. At the proximal end of the arrowhead there is the impression of notching on either edge, which may indicate the beginnings of the creation of a tang, however the surfaces in this area are not consistent with the rest of the arrowhead and these notches are therefore likely to be from post-depositional damage.
