Fundort: Dennis Hill (Litchfield-Sodalith-Fundort), Litchfield, Kennebec County, Maine, USA
Beschreibung: Ein 2 cm langer polierter Anschliff der Sodalith/Cancrinit-Phase des Litchfield-Nephelin-Syenit-Plutons bei Dennis Hill, Litchfield, Maine. Das graue Mineral links ist Nephelin, das nach rechts in blassblauen Albit übergeht. Ganz rechts zeigt der Albit einen Schiller-Effekt, der beim Litchfield-Syenit sehr häufig vorkommt und sich gut für Cabochons eignet. Die schwarzen Flecken sind winzige Biotitsplitter.

Description: A 2 cm polished section of the sodalite/cancrinite phase of the Litchfield nepheline syenite pluton at Dennis Hill, Litchfield, Maine. The gray mineral on the left is nepheline, which grades towards the right into pale blue albite. At the far right, the albite displays a schiller effect, which is very common in the Litchfield syenite and makes it good for cabochons. The black specks are tiny slivers of biotite.
