Summary[edit]

Description
English: “Nikandra of Naxos for Artemis on Delos.” Early Naxian work circa 650 BC; slightly larger than life, at least vertically. Flat styling, high 1,80 m. Naxian girl donated to the temple of Artemis on Delos that its idealized form. Noticeable is flat stylization, almost reminiscent of xoana and ancient Cycladic idols. Found 1878 at Delos. National Archaeological Museum in Athens, inv. no. 1.
