Description
English: So-called reliquary gable of Saint Valentinus. Probably an assemblage of fragments of old reliquaries, Mosan (Maastricht?), XIIth c., gilded copper over oak wood with filigrain and enamel. According to the inscription the saint portrayed at the top is Saint Gondulph. Originally part of the treasure of the church of Saint Servatius, Maastricht, Netherlands, where it was displayed on an altar in the choir, together with 3 other reliquary gables and the reliquary chest of Saint Servatius. Collection: Royal Museums of Art and History (Cinquantenaire Museum), Brussels, Belgium.
