Beschreibung in der Ausstellung:
Herrenhaus Hohehorst - Kanzel: „Die Vertreibung aus dem Paradies“
Als zentrales Schmuckstück der Empfangshalle und als Verbindung zum Obergeschoss erblickte der Besucher eine Kanzel, deren reichhaltiges Schnitzwerk einer lebensgroßen Gruppe „die Vertreibung von Adam und Eva aus dem Paradies“ darstellt. Ein Künstler aus Brabant hatte sie um 1700 für eine Kirche in Eindhofen geschaffen. Nach einer Odyssee an verschiedenen Standorten, darunter auch in einem Haus des Baumeisters Karl Friedrich Schinkel in Potsdam, tauchte sie im Kunsthandel auf und wurde nach dem Ersten Weltkrieg von G. Carl Lahusen für 100.000 Reichsmark erworben.

Bei der Versteigerung des gesamten Inventars von Hohehorst am 1. und 2. Dezember 1931 bot die Kanzel jedoch Anlass für Hohn und Spott. Gehässige Zungen meinten, mit der Vertreibúng sei das Schicksal von G. Carl Lahusen verewigt. Für 2300 Reichsmark blieb das wertvollste Kunstwerk unter Mindestgebot und wurde auch anschließend nicht verkauft. [..] Erst 1957 wurde die Skulptur restauriert und von Bremen dem Stader Geschichts- und Heimatverein übergeben. Seit 1975 war der hölzerne Sündenfall in Stade zu besichtigen.
Dort beginnt nun eine völlige Neugestaltung und das Schaustück wurde als Dauerleihgabe vom Nordwolle-Museum übernommen. [...]
