Summary
[edit]DescriptionNorth Kingshighway Boulevard at McPherson Avenue.jpg |
English: Pedestrians at North Kingshighway Boulevard and McPherson Avenue.
This intersection was dubbed "Holy Corners" because it was the site of three churches and one synagogue. Pictured, left to right are the Tuscan Temple (a masonic lodge), St. John's Methodist Church, and Temple Israel. The other churches were Second Baptist Church at 500 North Kingshighway and the First Church of Christ, Scientist at 475 North Kingshighway. St. John's, Temple Israel, and Second Baptist Church formed the "Holy Corners Fellowship" in 1931 to promote interfaith cooperation. The three congregations shared an annual dinner for more than 40 years and continued even after the Second Baptist and Temple Israel congregations moved to St. Louis County. Title: North Kingshighway Boulevard at McPherson Avenue. |
