Description

Scott the Special Constable

The rain was relentless throughout Wednesday 10th August 2011, but the Band had a commitment to play through the City Centre in the evening to publicise the Inverness Tattoo, and then to play to the Northern Meeting Park where the event was being staged - and to perform in the arena there.

Such was the rain that the organisers proposed aborting the Band's parade to the Park - but hey! it's only rain!! Besides we had to get to the park anyway, so it was easier to march/play there as it would have been to simply walk (and that would have disappointed the surpisingly large number of tourists who braved the weather to see and hear the Band pass by).

By the time we got half way there, word came through by mobile phone from the organisers that this evening's event had finally been cancelled on safety grounds as the grass was absolutely sodden. Nonetheless Plan B was for the various musicians in attendance to play within the (dry!) grandstand to entertain those hardy souls who had turned up.

So the Pipe Band performed various sets in the dry, and then joined up with the Army Cadet Brass Band to play Amazing Grace and Highland Cathedral - both of which went down a storm with the crowd.

As ever Northern Constabulary Traffic Wardens did a great job in traffic management and escorting the parade, as did our Special Constable who provided transportation for our equipment and instruments.
