"On The Way Out" [to Phalaborwa gate] "I believe this is the H9" [route] Afrikaans: Masoriniheuwel en argeologiese terrein vanaf die H9-roete gesien in die sentrale Krugerwildtuin, Limpopo, Suid-Afrika. Steentydperkse en laat ystertydperkse artifakte uit die 19de eeu is hier gevind. Die 19de eeuse bewoning het met die Mfecane ten einde gekom. Die baPhalaborwa-hoofman het by Shikumbuheuwel gewoon, en sy onderdane het smelteroonde en smeewerk op verskillende terrasse van hierdie kop bedryf. Koepelvormige oonde en blaasbalke van velsakke het die ystererts gesmelt. Die ligging is in 1973 gerestoureer.
English: Masorini hill and archaeological site seen from the H9, central Kruger National Park, Limpopo. Stone age and late iron age (19th century) artifacts and smelter ruins have been found here. The 19th century community came to and end during the Mfecane. The 19th century baPhalaborwa chief lived at Shikumbu Hill, while his smelter and forger clan members occupied different terraces on this hill.[1] Dome-shaped ovens and bellows made of animal skin were used to smelt the iron ore.[2] The site was restored in 1973.[3] |
