Summary[edit]

Description Oriented: This meteorite is known as Sahara 00170 (Sahara 00170 doesn't exist, although Sahara 00171 exists). It is oriented, meaning in this case that you can see radial flow lines from its atmsopheric passage. This flow is formed in a surface layer of molten rock caused by the heating of the material when it hits the earth's atmosphere. Meteorites showing such excellent orientation are rare. This piece is from the photgrapher's collection.
