Summary

[edit]
Description
English: A black peaked cap (German: Schirmmütze) of the Schutzstaffel (SS) , with skull insignia (Totenkopf) and SS style national 'eagle-and-swastika' emblem. It is possible that the uniform cap is a replica.
  • The SS was a major paramilitary organization under Adolf Hitler and the Nazi Party, responsible for many crimes against humanity during World War II.
  • Photo taken at the exhibitions of en:Oskar Schindler's Enamel FactoryI (German: Oskar Schindler's Deutsche Emailwarenfabrik (DEF), Polish: Fabryka Emalia Oskara Schindlera), which is now home to the Museum of Contemporary Art and a branch of the Historical Museum of the City of Kraków.
The factory was originally a metal item factory until Nazi Germany invaded Poland on September 1, 1939, leading to the outbreak of World War II. Oskar Schindler, a Sudeten German and member of the Nazi Party, established a sub-camp of the Płaszów forced labor camp at his factory in Kraków. He ultimately evacuated the factory and its employees to the Czech Republic as the eastern front approached.
