Ella Du Cane (Hobart, Tasmania, 1874; Mountains, Inglaterra, 25 nov. 1943). Filha de Sir Charles du Cane, governador britânico da Tasmânia, regressou depois com a família a Inglaterra, fixando-se em Braxted Park, no Essex e expondo pela primeira vez na prestigiosa New Society of Painters in Wather Colours, em 1893, recolhendo a admiração da rainha Victória (1819-1901), que entre dez. 1895 e ago. 1898, lhe adquiriu 26 trabalhos. Face ao sucesso das suas aguarela, em 1902 expõe na Índia e, em 1904, passa pela Madeira, onde voltará em 1908 e 1910, Canárias, percorre o Japão e, em 1905, a Itália. As suas aguarelas de Itália seriam editadas em 1908, The Italian Lakes, com texto de Richard Bagot (1860-1921) e reeditadas em 1912, as do Japão, como The Flowers and Gardens of Japan, com texto da sua irmã Florence Du Cane (1869-1955), também em 1908 e, no ano seguinte, The Flowers and Gardens of Madeira, 1909 e, em 1911, The Canary Islands, também com textos de Florence. O volume de 1909 sobre a Madeira teve reedição em 1926, pelo mesmo editor Adam & Charles Black.
