[edit]DescriptionP-40Fs 66th FS take off in North Africa c1942.jpg | Two U.S. Army Air Forces Curtiss P-40F Warhawk fighters of the 66th Fighter Squadron take off on a mission over North Africa. The 66th FS was assigned to the U.S. Army Middle East Force in Egypt in July 1942, becoming part of IX Fighter Command. It took part in the British Western Desert Campaign from the Battle of El Alamein to the Axis defeat in Tunisia in May 1943. |
