Title
PENANNULAR BROOCH
Description
English: Cast copper alloy penannular brooch. The hoop is undecorated and is circular in cross-section, circa 3mm in diameter. The small flat terminals of the brooch each have a plain rounded lozenge with knobs at the corners, the whole derived from a simplified and stylised animal snout with ears, the mouth swallowing the hoop. The pin is missing. The brooch has suffered what apepars to be fairly recent damage to the centre of the hoop.

Similar examples have been found at Porth Dafarch in Wales (Youngs, p16), Barnham in Suffolk (West, p124), and an unstratified example from Edix Hill in Cambridgeshire (Malim & Hines, p 134).
