Description

O Paço dos Henriques ou Paço Real da Vila, localizado em Alcáçovas, foi a residência real de Portugal no século XIV, onde se realizaram os casamentos dos pais de D. Manuel I de Portugal e da rainha Isabel I de Castela, a Católica. Nele, D. João II de Portugal redigiu o seu testamento a 20 de Setembro de 1495.

O acontecimento que mais marcou este palácio foi a assinatura do Tratado de Alcáçovas a 4 de Setembro de 1479 e que é considerado o primeiro acto de globalização.

Nada resta do original palácio do século XIV, que com o passar do tempo se foi adaptando às suas realidades: Palácio Real; Casa Nobre; Solar dos Henriques e de outras famílias nobres da terra e, finalmente, espaço público.

Actualmente encontra-se em estado de grande degradação exigindo a rápida intervenção de obras.
