Summary[edit]

Description The Pacific Telephone & Telegraph Building, now known as the Capitol Building, at Park Avenue & Oak Street in Portland, Oregon. The building was constructed mostly in 1913–14 and has been designated a Portland Historic Landmark. This is the west façade. When the building opened in 1914, it was only half as wide as now, on its western (Park Avenue) side, above the third floor – three window-pairs wide instead of six window-pairs – and the section on the right (the building's south half) did not extend higher than the third floor. An expansion project in 1926–27 raised that half of the building up to the full 11 stories of the northern half.
