[edit]
Description

Paracatenula, a platyhelminth flatworm, from coastal sediments of Okinawa, Japan. The worm is filled with endosymbiotic bacteria in most of its body, which it uses for nutrition, as it does not have a mouth or conventional gut.

Footage acquired by Brandon Seah at Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology (OIST) Marine Science Station (OMSS) in Nov 2017. Fieldwork was performed by Yui Sato and Brandon Seah, while employed at the Dubilier lab, Max Planck Institute of Marine Microbiology.
