Description

A urbanização do Parque das Nações abrange uma área de 340 ha, com 5 km na frente ribeirinha do estuário do Rio Tejo, integrando numa área de 60 ha, ao redor da Doca dos Olivais - construída nos anos 40 para aeroporto de hidroaviões - o ex-espaço expositivo da Exposição Mundial de 1998. Tendo por alicerce a 1ª fase da urbanização - concepção do espaço público e edificado para a realização da EXPO'98, incluindo os seus apoios urbanos (áreas residenciais, equipamentos, serviços, infra-estruturas urbanas, estacionamentos, zonas verdes) - o conceito urbano corresponde a revalorizar a relação da cidade com o Rio, recuperar o ambiente e a paisagem, reconverter o uso, assegurar a integração deste espaço no tecido da "cidade" e a participação na sua identidade, de forma a constituir uma nova centralidade na área metropolitana de Lisboa. Assim a EXPO'98 constituiu não só a oportunidade de requalificação urbanística e ambiental, mas também de modernização e internacionalização da cidade de Lisboa - para o que contribuem as acções concertadas de ordenamento dos municípios, no domínio da reconversão e requalificação, das acessibilidades e transportes, dos equipamentos, dos serviços e infraestruturas, do tecido urbano e dos eventos que projectam a sua identidade. <a href="http://www.parquedasnacoes.pt/pt/projectourbano/Default.asp">www.parquedasnacoes.pt/pt/projectourbano/Default.asp</a>
