| Description | Jelendol partisan hospital, 559 m, lies in a narrow valley below Daleč hill. During the Roška offensive in August 1942, dr. Pavel Lunaček hid the wounded from the hospital on Daleč hrib in this valley. Since it was not discovered during the offensive, dr. Lunaček decided that there would be a new hospital there. Construction began in the spring of 1943. The nine barracks housed rooms for the wounded, medical and wait staff, and a kitchen. In the fall of 1944, a new operating barracks were erected. It operated until liberation, but the occupier never discovered it. It was led by dr. Pavel Lunaček. Initially, it was the seat of the administration of the Slovenian Central War Partisan Hospital (SCVPB), and it hosted expert consultations of doctors from Roška hospitals. At the end of 1944, there were already about 700 beds in this and other partisan hospitals in Rog. |
