Description German painter
Paul Gehrmann. (1861-1923) is a German painter and visual artist known for his oil paintings and interior room scenes. Gehrmann was. born in 1861 in Berlin?, Germany. Most of his work is oil on canvas, and he is best regarded for his interior room scenes identifiable by a prominent shaft of light shining from an outside window, or door into the room scene, his "sunbathed interior scenes". While little is known about Gehrmann, some consider him a member of the 19th century German Continental School, although most his known work was likely painted 1901-1919. Several works by the artist have been sold at auctions in Europe and the US ranging from $600 to over $1900 (US dollars), including auctions through Christies, and the Dorotheum (Auction House) in Vienna. Some of his known works include "A Sunbathed Interior Scene Decorated in the Biedermeir Style" circa 1910, "Interior with open windows and grieving mother" circa 1919, and 'Still Life of Fruit and Mandolin' sold at Jackson's 'Important Russian, Asian, European & American Fine Art & Antiques' in 2013.
