Summary[edit]

Description

The five-pointed star was not yet associated with the occult and magic in the 4th or 5th century CE when these decorative reliefs were carved. The symbol was simply one of the stock geometric devices that were used in Jewish decoration where figurative motifs were kept to a minimum.
